Ok. Time to play!!!
This has actually been a lot harder than I was anticipating. After seasons of going all out and being taken out early, I decided I was going to go back to the ways of Karl. I was trying to be as lame of a Citizen as possible so I wouldn't be Imprisoned. But I was trying to be as pro-Town as possible so I wouldn't get Exiled. Well, I guess somewhere along the way I overshot that. So, with my near death experience behind me, it is time to play!
Ok, so, what I know...
Gertrude: Confirmed Citizen
Reason: She has an ability that allows her to protect people from Imprisonment. For half a second I had a flashback to Tyson and though "Maybe she is able to protect people from Imprisonment because she is a Spy and helps choose who is Exiled." But then I realized that she used her ability on Allan, and Allan was a Citizen. There is little reason to think a Spy would have an ability to limit their own Imprisonment options.
Chance: Confirmed Citizen
Reason: Apparently he has the ability that protects people from Exile. As strongly as I feel that would more likely be a Spy ability, apparently he is also a Mason with Gertrude. Typically with Masons they know that the other is the same alignment as them. I think it would have been a poor choice by Sam if he called them Masons but had one be a Citizen and one be a Spy. Plus, he seems to have been using his ability to protect Gertrude, ensuring that she can't get any votes and her ability gets stronger.
I would have put Cory in the Confirmed Citizen category as well, with him being the claimed Doctor. But he was Imprisoned, so the point is moot.
Owen: Highly Citizen
Reason: His voting record is very strongly pro-Town. He single-handedly ousted Isaac and (to the best of my knowledge) was a large push behind Magalie's Exile. That would be some incredible bussing on his part if he was a Spy. I find it difficult to believe his fellow Spies would be down with that. If it is the case, then this game is over. I can't imagine Owen ever being Exiled. There is one point in his favor (which before I learned all I know now was actually a point against). Claude may have limited Owen's options, but it was Owen who publicly asked to have options for who he was voting to Exile. So it wasn't so much Claude who hijacked the Exile as it was Owen. But Owen knew Chance was a Citizen with a strong Role. If neither Zedekiah or I went up, he would have no choice but to vote Chance and he very well could have been Exiled.
Mary: Somewhat Citizen
Mary has been a bit of a ghost in the previous rounds. Not around all that much and keeping most of her thoughts to herself. I will say though that when she does speak it seems genuine and pro-Town. I wouldn't be all that surprised if she turned out to be a Spy, but right now I'm not overly concerned. I want to talk to her more and get and idea of where exactly her head is at, though.
Claude: Neutral
I'm really not a fan of his tunneling of Chance. Even before I knew about Chance's role I was getting a decent Citizen read from him. And tunneling is never good, because you are overly guilty of confirmation bias. Also, his Role is scummy to me. At first I was starting to think it had to be a Citizen Role because the Spies have Foresight, Cover-Up, and Messenger plus Chance's Role (which at the time I thought was scummy). With Chance's Role being a Citizen Role, that leaves room for another Spy Role. And a lot of Claude's decisions on how to use his Role have been very scummy. I still think he could very well be a Spy, but right now there are bigger fish to fry. The biggest point in his favor for me right now is that people from this little trust group are being Imprisoned. If I'm Claude and I'm a Spy, I'd want to keep this group as intact as possible for the time being. With this many people working together, if there are enough Citizen suspects to mislynch, then the focus should be on getting 1 or 2 of them out while keeping the group intact. Once that many votes are no longer needed to lynch someone, then start picking off members of the group.
My biggest issue I have with this group is their readiness to trust. I mean immediately after Exile they're inviting me into their group chat and telling me all their information. If there isn't a Spy in here already, I could easily see one infiltrating the group. But seeing as I was forced to claim my Role, and really left Owen and Cory no other option than to have them say point blank that I claimed, I'm out in the open. So there's no information I have that I'm worried about getting into the wrong hands. Although I am worried about Chance and Gertrude. I guess time will tell.
