NO!
NO NO NO NO NO!
Damn you, Sam. A challenge?! This soon?! They're always the death of me!!! Are you trying to get me killed?!
Ok, so. Challenge. Do I want to win? Hells yes. Do I think I could do well on post the puzzles. Hells yes. And I going to give it 150%. I'm going to try really hard not to, but in the end I probably will. I just have to keep reminding myself that if I'm going to have any chance of surviving to see Episode 5 I need to swallow my pride and play dumb. I don't think I'd get the ultimate power, I don't think I'm in danger of being Exiled, and I doubt I'd be given the Imprisonment immunity. So there really is no good reason for my to bust my ass on this one.
Roles, roles, roles. What about them makes everyone want to claim in the first two rounds? First we have Claude, who is claiming some sort of voting manipulation. He says he stopped Chance from being able to vote at Exile 2, though I'm not seeing that anywhere. Chance was also made Immune, and I suspect that might also be Chance's doing. It seems like too much of a coincidence. Claude also claimed that he has the ability to choose two people and not allow someone else to vote for them. Also he can choose three people, and force some to vote for one of those people.
The ability to take away someone's vote is a rarity in Spies. There was the Council in Shootout. Each gang voted for representatives who were the only vote casters, and there was a challenge that allowed the winning gang to veto one nomination and replace it with someone else from their gang. But even after all of that there was still a set number of people voting, the question was who and the answers were never made completely unilaterally.
There was also the Trial in Schism, where Fatemaker Candy forced Cain to lose his vote. But again, it wasn't as simple as a straight block. First she only had two options, one chosen by each of the Spy teams. Secondly, Cain's vote was already limited by the nature of the trial. Bunni had been selected to be scrutinized, and everyone had to vote on her guilt or innocence. And she was selected by a polled everyone participated in.
I can't remember if there has been a Citizen role that has ever awarded Exile Immunity. The first thing that jumps to mind is Cuddles the Spy Jailer. It also has the loss of vote aspect, but without all the other limitations. There was also Angus the Spy Protector, a strictly Exile Immunity Role. I guess you could possibly make an argument for Caela the Punisher, but with her early Exile we will never truly know the evils she could have unleashed upon those not in her favor.
The other two aspects of his role are far less scummy... but that is assuming that they are true. I won't believe that he actually has those abilities until I see some sign of their existence. I'm inclined to thinks this all could be more of a Spy role than a Citizen one, but I guess anything is possible. Heck, we've seen two Gift Givers: Citizen Taylor and Spy Andreas. And it could be used on a Citizens behalf. Heck if I could have given Exile Immunity to Yvette in Union I probably would have.
Then there's Allan, who apparently has some sort of mimicking role. I guess this is possible. We had Miles the Inheritor, who ended up replacing Anneliese the Builder. And Spy Gift Giver Andreas gave Chole the ability to use a dead player's Role. So it isn't without its merits. Well, with the exception that it has always been a dead role. He also said he thought someone on the other side might have the same role, which leads me to believe that there is something in there to make him think that. But that could be an off-balanced mechanic. If someone has an investigation they can use it on him. Not only does it clear him, but it doesn't want the investigation because he gets one himself, and everyone will believe him because he was cleared.
Also, apparently he said good things happen if he's targeted. Which is weird because I thought the ability to use the ability is good in itself. It almost like fishing for people to use their abilities on him. Which could be disastrous of there was a Spy version of Khaled the Watcher. Also he told Jenny, which in weird enough that he told anyone but he said because she was too over the top to be a Spy. I could think of at least a half-dozen over the top spies. Oh, and she isn't over the top.
Then we had Savannah who apparently has some sort of messenger role (which she claimed after the vote deadline?!). Perhaps similar to Leticia from Shootout? But I think someone said that if she claimed she would lose her ability. Which seems like a silly restriction, if she's telling the truth. There was some speculation about if Sam would lie about alignment as part of an ability. Spy Perry the Cover Up could delay a reveal, so I guess that isn't that much further of a stretch. I guess I'll find out after I use my ability on her.
Then there's the unknown Doctor. S/he made a save last round, which is great, but I'm afraid that the ability might now be expired. Psychics Sage and Karl (yay!) only got a one shot deal. So did Mei Yun the Astrologer and Irulan the Doctor. Don't get me wrong, any save is a good one, for if no other reason than it buys us some time. But if s/he blew her shot too soon we might miss out on the ability to save someone Important later. But what is does is done, so there is no use in worrying about it now.
Imprisonment is going on, so I'm posting this now. Just in case, so I can't make any retroactive changes. Too bad I can't spell check it. Don't laugh at me if it's butchered.
