Here it is copied/pasted all as one block if you want to read it.
Recap:
A HUGE thank you to Nita for writing up a recap as the game went along in her confessional. Most of this is just copied/pasted from hers. Thanks so much!!
Episode 1:
The game starts off with 15 Republicans and 15 Democrats in a live opening chat on June 16th, 2010. Players were randomly divided into teams. They also played an icebreaker game where they shared their worries. Many players seemed to focus on breakout star Cinnamyn…
Judge Sam (8:27:01 PM): Magalie is worried about cinnamyns eating habits I dont think she will live to see the ending of the game
spies8alexei (8:27:04 PM): lmfao
spies8lilith (8:27:07 PM): OUCH
spies8jenny (8:27:07 PM): LOL
spies8alexei (8:27:10 PM): LOL
Judge Sam (8:27:36 PM): Cory responds, She'd have to eat her own stomach, which is clearly impossible.
Meanwhile Cinnamyn has joined Spy Headquarters and is slowly learning her new allies. She is quite surprised…
spies8cinnamyn 10:00 pm
(10:00:21 PM): k why is no one else checking in seriously hambone and magalie suck
sorintheseeker 10:00 pm
(10:00:49 PM): lol
spies8cinnamyn 10:01 pm
(10:01:10 PM): hambone said he hates me and was going to propose to kill me first
(10:01:20 PM): what a dickhead
spies8cinnamyn 10:03 pm
(10:03:09 PM): alexei seriously do you want me to kill myself
(10:03:14 PM): why did you do this to me
sorintheseeker 10:03 pm
(10:03:51 PM): ahahahahahahahahahaha
(10:03:54 PM): lol sorry
spies8cinnamyn 10:04 pm
(10:04:07 PM): will it be mary next
(10:04:12 PM): because that would really seal the deal
The delectable band of Spies all meet and begin plotting.
Meanwhile, on the Republicans, Zedekiah earns early suspicion for simply forgetting to log off of AIM. Zedekiah has a difficult time explaining he was busy watching "The Princess and the Frog", playin on the Wii, playing online games, eating pizza, and sleeping and he forgot to log off. This prompts many Republicans to question if he's lying: How could someone so technologically savvy not know how to log off?
- Alexei is singled out by Tina and Nita for his strong attack against Zedekiah. The Anagram Alliance jokingly forms.
- Themba creates a topic to discuss the pros and cons of voting "no exile". Some Republicans think she is suspicious for this
- Stephanie thinks Dane is suspicious for reading the Democrat board. Alexei agrees to vote for Dane
- Nita decides to begin her first mission: Exile a Spy based on a case she makes. She discusses her Alexei suspicions with others and posts her case. Tina and Owen contribute.
- Alexei comes to the group chat and says no hard feelings to the people who suspect him. Themba believes Alexei admitted to being a Spy.
[22:54] spies8alexei: Also, I hope you understand that I am not taking any of this personally, and I do not blame you or think any less of any of you. I know the nature of this game, and if I took everything seriously, no one would play with me. I appreciate your honesty, and I hope that one day I will get to play with all of you again one day
[22:55] spies8alexei: and with that, I have to leave. Goodbye, my friends, for perhaps the last time
[22:59] spies8themba: did he just admit to being a spy? or was that just me?
Alexei is Exiled with 6 votes and revealed to be a Spy. Zedekiah receives 4 votes after a last minute push. The Spies try and get Alexei to claim a role, perhaps doctor, before being Exiled but he does not.
The following players have roles:
Alexei had Foresight. 30 minutes before Exile began, I would tell him how many votes he currently had cast against him at that point. I would not tell him who had voted for him.
Savannah was a Messenger. She could send anonymous messages to players of her choice.
Isaac had a role called the Cover Up.
Every episode, he could select one person. Any role abilities used on that person would be delayed for one Episode. They would occur the next Episode, if possible.
He had an additional power. Once in the game, he could make all voting anonymous for an Episode.
Gertrude was a mason with Chance.
Gertrude was the Angel. If she received no votes at Exile (or nomination), she could make 1 player Immune from the following Imprisonment. If she did this twice in a row, she could make 2 people Immune the next time. Then 3, 4, etc.
Chance was the Devil. If he received at least one vote at Exile (or nomination), he could make 1 player Immune from the following Exile.
Nita was the Foreign Agent, a third party. She had to complete 10 of 12 private missions to achieve victory.
Allan was the Lobbyist. When players used roles on him, he earned a one-time use of those roles.
Cory was the Doctor. He saved Gabriel at Imprisonment 2, then lost his powers.
Claude was the Majority Whip. He could either: nullify someone’s vote, pick 3 people and then someone had to vote out of those 3, or forbid one person from voting 2 specific people.
Mary was the Spy Messenger. She could send anonymous messages to players of her choice.
Kiara was the Security Checkpoint. She got to look at dead player’s roles. If she guessed the Exiled player’s alignment before it was revealed, she got a bonus dead player role investigation.
On the Republicans, players are divided between Camilla, Chance, and Claude. A close vote sent Camilla home and forced Claude to reveal his role.
Episode 2
Allan quits but then comes back.
- Activity 2: Talking about AIM. Cinnamyn, Cory, and Mary are popular on the Democrats. Hambone, Nita, and Tina re popular on the Republicans.
- Nita is afraid of imprisonment and confesses her alignment to Jenny in hopes that Jenny is a Spy. Jenny agrees to keep Nita's secret and asks Nita to play the game pro-Citizen
- Allan role-claims to Jenny and Nita, fulfilling Nita's second mission
- Claude role-claims to the Democrats
- Lots of casemaking in the Republicans. Zedekiah steps up and posts his suspicions, particularly on Themba. Hambone posts several cases, including one on Allan. Stephanie accuses Owen and Rondak with reasons that other Republicans consider ridiculous. Everyone is suspicious of Savannah. Many are still suspicious of Zedekiah.
Magalie entertains and shocks with her amazing, unique personality. She insults many players and delivers one of my favorite moments of the game:
[00:46] spies8broderick: I'm trying to have a game related discussion here.
[00:46] spies8broderick: Why are you so adverse to one?
[00:46] spies8magalie: okay but sometimes thats why people leave when you are in the chat room
[00:46] spies8magalie: because your borin
[00:47] spies8broderick: lol. Evidence
[00:47] spies8broderick: Show it
[00:47] spies8magalie: okay fine
[00:47] spies8magalie: has left the chat
I LOVE YOU MAGALIE SO MUCH <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Such a superstar.
Meanwhile, the Spies offer Chance the Devil and Gertrude the Angel a bribe. If either accepts $7.50, they will not become masons. Both would have to decline to become masons. They both decline and join together in their own forum, Between Heaven and Hell.
Cory saves Gabriel after the Spies pick him to be Imprisoned.
The Spies are disjointed at this point, each big personality trying to go their own way. Several are having public and private fights. Lawrence posts that “the infighting must stop.” Some of it may just be frustrations coming out, some of it may be playful, but I find it to be a poor direction of energy. Yes, we all have differing opinions, but if we're going to do this right, then we need to be going forward without attacking each other, calling each other names, or otherwise being mean.
At Exile 2, Margot was deemed most suspicious by the Democrats and revealed to be a Citizen.
As the voting deadline nears, it looks to Jenny that Allan will be receiving the most votes. He is not present, so she decides to role-claim for him. The Republicans switch their votes to Savannah.
After the voting deadline, Savannah admits she has a role: The Messenger. Citizens are saddened by her poor play and late claim, since it was too late to change their votes. Savannah is exiled. Themba earns the next highest number of votes, earning Nita her third mission.
Savannah, Themba, and Stephanie were up for the chop at the Exile 2 Republican event, and Savannah took the sad fall.
Episode 3:
Episode 3 contains the Power Puzzle race which featured pink unicorns and the planets Siphonia, Pegasia, and Venus. 26 players had the time of their lives searching for the most minute details of these dreamt up worlds, as well as completing six other puzzles. In the end, the Republicans won the race and the prizes.
Gabriel is imprisoned.
Allan, Nita, Rondak, Hambone, and Jenny cross over to the Democrats. Isaac, Lilith, Broderick, Jasmine, and Lawrence cross over to the Republicans.
Suspicion begins to build against Jenny and Rondak amongst the Democrats
Cory, the ex-doctor, reveals his role to Nita
Dane receives a bribe of five dollars to nullify his vote. He declines.
Claude declares this exile must be a showdown between him and Chance. Most Democrats disagree, although nearly everyone suspects one or both.
The Republicans beat the Democrats in the first round by assembling a unicorn in the faster time. The Democrats lack organization and struggle as they attempt to fit their 6 drawing pieces together.
The Republicans beat the Democrats in the second round. Organization in the Democrats is better: Claude leads the group through the Mary had a Little Lamb portion and Nita leads the group through the Planetocopia portion. Gertrude sends a frustrated E-mail to Chris Wayan, the creator of the site, in the middle of the challenge.
The Republicans beat the Democrats in rounds 3 and 4 to win the race and the right to exile, distribute imprisonment immunities, and assign the Grand Power.
The Democrats quickly select their nominee. Magalie is chosen for not participating in the challenges, blatantly lying, being a disruption, and lurking.
The Republicans are split over their nomination. In the last hour before exile, Themba receives a wave of votes to become the nominee, 5-3 over Jasmine. Isaac leads part of the push and makes a post that is immediately pointed out by Claude as being scummy.
Owen wins the grand power over Tina by one vote
As a prize for winning the challenge, players vote Owen, Tina, and Lilith to be Immune from Imprisonment. Broderick is close behind.
The Republicans select to exile their nominee, Themba, over Magalie, 9-3. Themba is revealed to be a Citizen.
Episode 4:
The teams merge! Societal Collapse twist begins with nominatons and Exile. Everyone except Owen loses their Exile vote.
Nita tries to pick a fight with Broderick to prevent her imprisonment. It doesn't work; she is imprisoned by the Spies anyway.
Sam posts Nita was a third-party: A foreign agent. Jenny confesses in a public chat that she knows some details.
Jenny, Stephanie and Isaac are selected for nomination. A role is used to cover up the nominations, so nobody knows who nominated whom.
Claude uses his role on Allan so Allan can prove he has a role next round.
Owen casts the sole exile/Senate vote for Isaac. Isaac is revealed to be a Spy.
Owen grants Mary her vote back. Cinnamyn wins hers as the result of a challenge.
Episode 5:
Lilith is imprisoned.
Cory wins his vote back by having the most conversations
Magalie earns her vote back by being the Spies Choice. Her public response: "Hey Sam I refuse to take this. FUggin makes me look like I am scum."
Allan proves his role by using Claude's ability on Hambone, limiting Hambone's nomination choices to Dane, Gertrude, or Cory
Cinnamyn receives a bribe to accept 10 dollars to give her Spy allies a roleblocker role. She declines.
Players submit critiques. Some are written in the voices of past Spies characters. Some imitate Cinnamyn's bizarre/ghetto typing style.
Players are hesitant to nominate Magalie because she has 20% of the Senate voting power. Jenny, Chance, and Tina decide to nominate her anyway, and their votes are enough to make Magalie a nominee.
Chance, Rondak, Magalie, and Gertrude are nominated.
Lawrence and Rondak post they are quitting.
A typo regarding a misplaced period and some robot jokes lead to a marriage proposal for Claude and Gertrude:
spies8gertrude: Claude, the most wonderful days I've had in the Burg have been the days I've spent with you. You are the headlights to my heart. I can't calculate how much you mean to me.
spies8gertrude: Please do me the honors of being my semi-lawfully wedded husband.
spies8claude: Your heartfelt words have powered up my cold, metal heart. I accept.
Magalie enters chat and creates drama by claiming she received a message telling her Tina is the doctor and she is telling the burg because if she goes down, she is taking the rest of the team down with her. Claude doesn't think Magalie is capable of the level of subterfuge that is required for that kind of play and becomes convinced Magalie is a Citizen.
The Senate consists of three Spies and two Citizens. Cory, Cinnamyn, Owen, and Mary vote 4-1 to exile Magalie. Magalie is revealed to be a Spy.
Episode 6:
Round 6:
I think somewhere in here Gertrude and Chance started working with Allan, without claiming to him. Talk about Gertrude / Chance / Allan game breaking?
I think also Gertrude and Chance claim their mason roles to Tina shortly before her imprisonment
Tina is imprisoned
Claude uses his role on Owen and limits Owen's voting choices to Zedekiah, Kiara, and Chance.
Members of the burg are appalled that Owen's voting options are limited, so they decide to help him out by nominating Zedekiah, Kiara and Chance to give him options. Kiara is visibly annoyed that she is nominated essentially because people are sheeping.
Lawrence is self-nominated for not voting
Rondak is replaced. His replacement decides it would be easier to create a new character instead and makes the character of Brondak, Rondak's twin brother:
Players are asked to vote for the person they want to receive their vote back. Chance and Rondak win their votes back as the "most" and "least" desired players to have voting abilities.
(Unverified) Soon before exile, Kiara is the receiver of the majority of votes. She saves herself by claiming a role (Security Checkpoint) to Cory and Owen. Cory and Owen panic and change their votes to Zedekiah (even though Alexei was busted for going after him hardcore in round 1!)
Zedekiah is exiled 3-2-1-1 in a live webcam Exile and revealed to be a Citizen
Sam offers money to players to quit. Allan accepts the offer at $33.88 and spends the money on comedy DVDs and a guitar thingee.
Episode 7:
Cory the doctor is imprisoned. Chance and Jasmine mourn the loss of their crush.
Broderick is angry at the Senators for not publically discussing their votes and reasons.
I think in this round or the round before it Chance and Gertrude claim to Claude so he will stop trying to exile Chance.
Over half the players are nominated in a bizarrely split nomination vote.
The Senators are undecided between Awohali and Jenny.
Awohali claims a role shortly before exile to try to save himself: The Political Activist, who must talk to players to get an investigation. He claims he earned it this round and used it on Jenny, and found her to be a Spy. Cinnamyn, Rondak, Chance, Gertrude, and Owen do not believe him and vote to exile him anyway.
Despite Chance's role claim (or maybe because of it - because Chance needs votes to use his ability), Claude votes for Chance anyway. Some things never change.
In a 5-3-1 vote Awohali is exiled and revealed to be a Citizen.
Kiara wins a game of I Spy to earn her vote back.
Episode 8:
Gertrude is imprisoned. Chance reveals her final words detailing that she is the Angel and Chance is the Devil, and they are masons to each other. Several players are pissed at Chance for wasting their time - they suspected Chance when he could have just come out and cleared himself, freeing their time to look at other suspects.
Owen returns from vacation.
Inquisition activity.
Dane earns his vote back for being "the most loved"
Jenny's fate is all but sealed by Awohali. She is exiled 10-1 and revealed to be a Citizen, shocking everyone. Stephanie and Kiara threaten to resurrect Awohali so they can kill him again.
Hambone and Jasmine must litter each other's district with propaganda to earn their vote back. Whoever loses will be impeached. The players begin to attack Hambone, but soon momentum coalesces around him, and Jasmine the Citizen eventually loses her vote.
Hambone was unhappy that the Spies didn’t immediately help him to win, and didn’t offer much support during the game. He declared himself to be a rogue Assassin and that he would personally backstab every other Spy and be the last one standing. He broke ties with some Spies and this may have led him to vote out Cinnamyn and Lawrence.
In a close Exile 9, the Citizens seized momentum and voted out superstar Cinnamyn in a 5-4-1 vote. Mary voted for Chance and Lawrence voted for Cinnamyn.
Episode 10 was All-Stars week! Past players returned in a very fun reliving the past event. At Exile, the Spies continued to falter as Lawrence was voted out 5-4. Hambone voted for Lawrence.
Exile 11 saw Dane’s surprise, blindside exit and reveal as a Citizen.
