Hard to tell for sure though, since that could go either way.
[18:21] spies8jenny: If we find out Claude, Kitty, or the Exile Blocker is a spy though, I think it will clear the other two.
[18:21] spies8jenny: 4 out of 7 may be pushing it, but 5 out of 7 just seems too many.

30 players, 7 spies, even a third party role.

So it made sense to me to go back and look at how many roles there were earlier today after going over what we learned with Kitty.
[21:44] spies8jenny: There were 3 spy roles, 6 cit roles, and a third party.
[21:45] spies8jenny: This time around we got 3 spy roles (the two dead ones, and the spy messenger)

And then we got a third party.

And then we got the doctor, Al, Savanny for sure, most likely you and Kitty, and then the exile blocker as a possible 6th.

It's entirely possible that there are more about, or that the placement is a little different, but so far it seems to fit the bill.

[21:47] spies8jenny: 4 out of 7 spies having roles I think is pushing it. 5 is ridiculous.

I don't think there are any more right now, but if we do somehow manage to find another spy that has/had a role, then I think we can be all but certain the rest of the roles are cits.
[21:50] spies8jenny: The only thing that's making me doubt a little about it, is the fact that Sam usually does his best to keep meta out of the game as much as possible, and the fact that the spy roles we know about haven't really been as strong as past ones have been.

[21:51] spies8claude: What does meta have to do w/ this?
[21:53] spies8jenny: Well during 6, Sam got annoyed to death with everyone using how many spies were caught from the early game teams as reasons for why the rest had to be cits. So he made it a point in 7 (and this game) about just how random he was making them.

He also specifically stated somewhere after 7 ended that part of the reason for having the "Dick Tracy" role in the game was to mess up people that would try to go "Sam would never use such a role" as reasons against it.

So this time around, when we got the same number of players, the same number of spies, and even a third party role? I'd be surprised if it didn't occur to him at all while making the game.

[21:57] spies8jenny: But yeah, right now I'm strongly considering that you, Kitty, and the exile blocker are all cit roles right now, just with how things are comparing otherwise with last game. Exile blocker as a cit even makes sense in the "Screw up metagaming" metagaming logic, since last time it was really seen was in 5 when it was a spy role.

Which might not be as important if they already got someone in the group, meaning they would need to sway less people.

So far it seems to fit the bill there. Could be slightly different, but since I'd think 4 out of 7 spies having roles is pushing it anyways, for the time being I'm thinking Claude, Kitty, and mysterious exile blocker person are cits for now.

I remember at once point while I was talking about how I'd only gotten to talk with Lawry for about 15 minutes since the roles went out before he vanished, and for some reason they assume it was a spy chat. Was kind of bizzare.

On that note, also had Ricky trying to fight over me using a figure of speech about Lawry leaving the minute the merge comes up, and acted like it was a contradiction with when I talked with him. Just was a rather bizzare chat in general that night.

I also still think it's possible that there was someone else in the senate at the time when Maggie joined that was a spy, since there was no way anyone could expect her to have any real sway in the senate, and if they were going to go ahead and add their first spy to the group, I'd think they'd want someone that had more influence. Which might not be as important if they already got someone in the group, meaning they would need to sway less people.

I was looking at spies7 earlier. We have the same number of players in both games, the same number of spies, even a third party in both. Figured it made sense to compare the number of roles.

Then, it was 3 spy roles and 6 cit roles, along with a third party.

Now looking at the current ones, we got 2 dead spy roles and then a spy messenger about.

Follow that up with the other roles we know about (Doctor, Al, Savanny, Claude, Kitty, Exile Blocker) that makes 6.

It's entierly possible that the placement will turn out a bit differnet, but so far it seems to fit the bill, not to mention that 4 roles for 7 spies seems to be a bit much in the first place.
