About the Bribe System - $75 in bribes offered

In Spies 8: The Bribe, at least $75 USD will be put up by me. (players do not use their own money) The players will use this money to bribe each other.

Here's a classic example that might take place in the middle of the game. The Spies would bribe a Citizen to surrender their vote for one round. The Spies would get that vote and cast it themselves, anonymously. Would you accept $5 to surrender your vote to the Spies for just one round? $10?

To explain further:

• Tons of effort has gone into balancing this system, to have predetermined points where bribes are offered. Just like the game as a whole, the bribe system has been engineered to be as fair to both Spies and Citizens as possible. Both sides will bribe each other.
  
  
• I am not someone for huge game-changing twists, I think the basic game of mafia is very interesting by itself. No extreme power shifts or huge powers will be involved in the bribe system. (I doubt I'd have enough money to get people to do big things against their own team like that anyway hahaha. ) My mafia roles are pretty medium to low powered, and the bribe system will be the same.
  
  
• The money comes from me, players do not use their own money. All Bribes take place as a part of the game, either predetermined or part of a role.
  
  
• The Bribe system is just one aspect of the game.
  

Some specifics about the $$$$:

- The easiest way for me to get you the money is through an Amazon gift certificate, I can just e-mail that to you. Other ways include Paypal or through mail. If you have any other ideas, let me know.

- The money will be given out after the end of the Episode.

- You are NOT guaranteed a bribe offer during the game. There will be a small number of bribes, you may not be offered one at all.

- I say "at least $75" because more may be offered. That's $75 in offers, not $75 paid. Some bribes may become public, others will remain a secret.

Yes the money is USD - American dollars. I appreciate the concern about me eating haha, but remember around $75 will be offered. While I am prepared to dish out that much, my estimate is that it will cost me about as much as a video game, which I can forego for this so that's alright by me. I think this might be more entertaining than one video game!


I was thinking of giving out the money at the end of the game a bit. That would make people stick around to the very end of the game and make it easier to do for me all at once haha. Is there a specific reason why you think it would be better to do it at the end of the game? My thinking was, yeah that would be good, but on the other hand it would be super lame to have to wait like a month to get ten bucks lol. Plus having the money right away, as a result of completing the task, makes it like more 'real' you know rather than theoretical money, which might affect how you feel about it you know?

Yes, partially because of it being easier to get out all at once, partially because doesn't paypal charge you for some strange reason to send money to people? I could be remembering it wrong, but if that's the case, I'd think it'd be easier to do it at once so you aren't getting charged over and over again to send people money over it.

Agreed. People shouldn't be playing this for the $$$ anyway. If any one did hassle you they should be drawn, quartered, and have my stale cookies left over from Episode 6 hurled at them.

Maybe you can make it a penalty for being booted as an inactive. Any bribes you were to be paid are either null and void, or are given to your replacement instead.

Plus, I think it'd be easier to just do it all at once, so you only have to pay for one stamp/paypal fee per person.
