Tina really should have been sleeping. It was midnight. She lay tossing and turning in her bed, unable to fall asleep. Her restlessness stemmed from the increasing panic in the Burg. The furtive whispering had become more frequent after the Themba’s unfortunate Exile. Rumors had been spreading that someone in the village was behind her false outcast. Tina couldn’t imagine who that would be. Everyone seemed fairly friendly and approachable.
Then again, she never had been the type of person who was good at reading people. Their true intentions, hidden behind their cheerful facades, might have well been concealed on the other side of the world rather than on the other side of their faces. For all she knew for sure, everyone was a traitor and this was all one sick joke.
Tina pulled off the covers and got out of bed. She stood silently, just listening. She felt an intense awareness of the space around her, the objects in the room, and the passing of time. Pausing, she slowly walked in front of the mirror. Staring at herself curiously, she closely examined her face. Before this was all over, she thought, she knew she’d have a few wrinkles on her face.

Tina stepped outside to get some fresh air when she saw Dane smoking on the other side of the street. Waving, she walked over, eager for some company in the lonely night.
“Couldn’t sleep?”
“It’s been tough getting back on a normal schedule,” Dane explained. “I used to work a night shift back before all this crap happened and some nights I can’t seem to adjust back to sleeping at night.”
Tina and Dane chatted about his former job and the jobs of their loved ones. Eventually they went inside to escape the brisk air, but remained standing by the door as they didn’t plan on talking long. During a pause in the conversation, Dane heard the soft scuffle of footsteps outside. He went to the window and saw a dark, shadowy figure walk through the alley on the other side of the street.
“What’s happening?” Dane gasped.
Tina would wonder “What’s happening?” herself as she found herself and Dane following the mystery person through the city, alley by alley. Thank goodness she hadn’t been wearing heels, she thought, or they never would have remained hidden. It was hard enough as is for her to keep up with Dane without making a sound. Tina and Dane continued to follow the figure as he walked towards the skyscrapers in the center of town.

Tina may not have been wearing heels, but her forceful, ungainly stomps were enough to wake Cory from his slumber as Tina marched past his house at twenty minutes past midnight. Fearing danger, Cory became alert instantly and jumped out of bed, scanning the windows for an intruder. For all he knew this was his last precious moments of freedom before being kidnapped by the Spies. He grabbed a shovel he had laying by his bed and ran to the door, heart beating quickly.
From this new vantage point he could see Tina’s white shirt as she walked by in the middle of the night. Cory had the same questions that Dane had – why was somebody traveling somewhere so quickly in the dead of night? He laced up his shoes, put on a jacket, and left home, closing the door behind him. Pausing, he rapidly opened the door and grabbed what he forgot.
He decided to bring his shovel with him.
But it was dangerous to go out in the middle of the night alone, Cory thought, so he decided to hastily knock on the door of two friends. They could join him to find out what this was all about. He knocked on Stephanie and Jenny’s door as Tina and Dane continued following the man in black.

“It’s about damn time,” the man in black whispered to himself. He had “stealthily” crept by Dane’s house four times before they started to follow him! He was beginning to think the trap was hopeless. The plan at first was just to sneak into their target’s house and grab them in their sleep. However, upon arriving in the Burg he found that was impossible. Everyone had gathered together in the center of town to keep safe.
The new plan had been to lead them to an abandoned building near the old electric plant. Unfortunately, the only road leading to that building was far too open and well-lit. It would have been too obvious a trap, as anyone would have seen a follower behind them when the building was in the middle of a lighted field. Even these slug-brained lemmings wouldn’t believe that he was that dumb! So as he turned corner after corner, walking down block after block, he radioed in a new plan to his superiors. A riskier plan, a more dramatic plan, but it would have to do. He had to get this done. Headquarters would not be pleased if this mission was a failure.

Jenny had been hoping something exciting was going to happen soon. A woman of adventure, she eagerly agreed to follow Cory and Stephanie when they knocked on her door in the middle of the night, blabbering about some suspicious figures or some such. Jenny didn’t really need a reason to head out on a manhunt, she had been feeling restless the past week and was happy to act. It was go time!
Jenny, Cory, and Stephanie followed the two mysterious figures ahead of them, one standing out like a searchlight. They followed that bright white shirt through alleyways, across streets, and around buildings. With each block they were heading into downtown. Tired from all the jogging as she rushed to catch up, Stephanie had been looking down at the ground for a bit.
So when she looked up and found herself at the foot of two gigantic twin skyscrapers, she was floored. In front of her eyes rose two 70-story skyscrapers side by side. Connecting the two was the magnificent, famous Sky Bridge – an outdoor bridge connecting the two skyscrapers that hovered 60 stories in the air. The open-air bridge shone brightly in the sky.
The Sky Bridge wasn’t just for easy transportation between the two towers. Built on the ceilingless, open-air bridge, hovering hundreds of feet in the air, was the beautiful Sky Garden. This luscious garden in the sky was filled with lush grasses, gorgeous trees, blooming plants, and extravagant flowers of every color. It felt like you were in a forest resort. The Sky Garden was its own little serene paradise, looking out onto the ground hundreds of feet below.

The memory of a school field trip to the Sky Garden entered Cory’s mind as he climbed the stairs of the left skyscraper. Many of the kids in his class had been frightened of the heights and the open view of the city from the Sky Bridge. They had been huddled in the center of the platform, fearful that the wind might blow them away, and off the side of the bridge. They shouldn’t have been worried, Cory remembered thinking. If only they had gotten past their fears and actually explored the edge of the platform, they would have seen the thick netting that hung just below the entire thing. Nobody was flying away as long as the net still stood.
Cory’s memory was broken when he thought he heard the sound of someone climbing the flights of stairs above him. “Impossible,” he thought. “Tina and Dane took the stairs of the right skyscraper, we took the ones on the left to avoid being seen. No one should be in this skyscraper at this time of night.”
Panting, Cory and company finally ascended their 60th flight of stairs and reached the entrance to the Sky Garden. Peeping out of the window, they saw Tina and Dane opening the door and eagerly heading out onto the Sky Bridge. Eager to confront them, Cory opened the door on his side and walked out onto the bridge.
Dane was too engaged in staring at the mysterious hooded man in the center of the Sky Bridge to notice Cory walking his way. He stared at the man, trying to figure out what exactly it was he was doing with that key and lock and why it was so important he had to do it at the middle of the night…

All of a sudden, a loud WHOOSH WHOOSH noise hit them. All of the villagers looked up to the left skyscraper, where they saw the blades of a helicopter begin to spin as it lifted off into the air. The helicopter took off but it didn’t fly away into the night, instead came directly towards the bridge.
Not wanting to let the masked man get away on the helicopter, all of the villagers on the bridge began running towards him, hoping to get to him before the helicopter landed. Running, stampeding through flowers and kicking up dirt, Jenny was ahead of the others but still didn’t make it there before the helicopter landed.
The masked man jumped inside the helicopter.
But the helicopter didn’t take off.
Instead, eight more masked men jumped out of the helicopter.

They began running straight towards one of the villagers.
The villager was tackled and subdued.
And roughly forced into the helicopter.
Lilith has been Imprisoned by the Spies.
You will never see her again. Lilith : please post Final Words in your confessional immediately. Judge Sam: “Lilith, it’s sad to see you go so quickly after entering the game. =( You must have done something right though to become a target of the Spies so quickly. Thank you for catching yourself up quickly and speaking to everyone, that’s not easy to do in a game this size. You gave it your all and really brought your own unique flavor to the game which I enjoyed. I really loved having you play and be a part of the game. Judge Sam: “Lilith is gone but the game must continue… if we are to have any hope of eradicating the sixteen remaining citizens. That process begins with nominations which are due at 9:00 PM CDT Sunday. Do not forget! All players except for Mary, Owen, and Cinnamyn must nominate or face automatic nomination. Live Exile will be either Monday or Tuesday night, I will tell you the time tomorrow. Don’t forget to keep a lookout on the Burg tonight and tomorrow for information about an activity and more. Be sure to share your suspicions with others before nominations. Good luck to the Spies!” <3 To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing. -Elbert Hubbard
