Answer the following questions.
1) If you were a Spy, what would your strategy be? How would you deceive others and convince them you are a Citizen?
If I were a Spy, my strategy would be a bunch of little things put together. One main thing I've thought of in the break between Spies 7 and Spies 8 is that Citizens expect Spies to be informed. There are examples of uninformed Spies, sure, but a lot of newer players expect Spies to know everything that's going on. I'll be slower on the uptake with things like that. Example:
Them - "Did you see the new case in the Burg?"
Me - "No, who's it on? Any good?"
In reality, I'll have already read the case and I'll have my response ready to go (though I'll make it seem like it's an on the fly reaction). This isn't a major tell, but it's the little things that make people trust or distrust you. I will do several things like this, based on my experiences in past Spies games. For example, on paper, my play as Levi looked really bad. I probably would have been Exiled long before the final round had in chats, I not attempted to catch Spies at every opportunity. To sometimes Jenya and mainly Kirsten, I kept bringing up new ideas (even though most of them were wrong). I will try to imitate this if I replace into a Spy spot this game. Spies is not just about weighing scumtells - it is about human emotional reactions to other players, and small things like this trigger positive reactions. Another thing, albeit a little weaker, comes from Stone in Spies 7. In the beginning of the game, he came to me with a theory that the game had a Serial Killer based on the numbers. I already knew that Serial Killers are not included in Spies, but the manner in which he told me this seemed really town. He thought that he was onto something major, and wanted to keep things really hush-hush. Crazy theories are generally a townie-looking creation, I would think.
As for my actual scum strategy, it is largely dependent upon the other players. My interactions with other players will shape my strategy of manipulation and deceit. If there are already vocal leaders, I will "get in their pants," so to speak, and manipulate them quietly from behind the curtain. If no one steps up, I won't be afraid to assume a leadership role and guide the sheep into the wolfpack. Making townies my advisors would earn trust in their eyes in this situation. Unfortunately, there are a lot of variables that make planning a scum strategy difficult. I'm very reactionary, and my actions will be determined by the current game state.
6) Every round a live Exile (counting of votes) will take place in chat. This will last 30-45 minutes and will take place between Sunday and Thursday, starting anywhere between 7:00 PM CST and 10:00 PM CST, whichever is best for the players. 90% of the cast attends the live Exiles. If you tell me what nights you aren't available, I can adjust the schedule accordingly. Do you have any regular, planned activity such as lessons, night classes, jobs, or other obligations on these nights? Are you usually out on weekday nights?
I'm good for any of those after July 3 when I come back from camp.
7) Please list the online games you are currently playing in or are planning to play within the next month.
A couple low-maintenance mafia games on mafiascum.net. Those don't take up much time at all. Unfortunately, I will be out of town from June 13 - July 3 and can only play this game as a replacement or viewer.
8) Pretend that you are a Spy and an unknown Citizen bribes you with $25 if you decide to give him a weak role. Would you accept the bribe? Would you tell your fellow Spies about it?
I would accept the bribe. I'm a high school student, and high school students like money.
It is a weak role after all, and it shouldn't cause too much trouble. Either I would try to subtly catch wind of what they got, or just kill them off the next night so it can't do any damage.
And telling my fellow Spies would depend on who my fellow Spies are.
My Spies 7 Experience:
Oh geez. My play this game was, to say the least, a train wreck. I burned out due to real life factors, and didn't really give my all in the last half of when I was in it. My main lesson from Spies 7, I would think, comes from the round I was exiled. I did not step back and look at the situation I was in from an unbiased viewpoint. Instead, I freaked out and roleclaimed, sealing my coffin. I really need to have a clear head before making game decisions like that, and I think I will be able to do so now seeing how disastrous it is to skip that step.
I know that last game my play was not a positive effect on the game, at least the last two rounds or so. I apologize for that, I overreacted. I'm pretty sure that what happened has reflected negatively upon my potential for selection into this game (even if I am just gonna be a replacement.) Please, if you are needing a replacement for when you get back, remember Spies 6 and compare it to Spies 7 . . . I can (and will) be an active member of the cast if you need me to replace an inactive.
Thanks,
Jordan
