All rules must be followed and will be enforced. Please familiarize yourself with them.
A) You are not allowed to go outside the game to show "proof" of your status as a Spy, Citizen, or other role in the game. This means you can NOT show someone a conversation that you have with me in order to "prove" that you are a Citizen. You are not allowed to take screenshots of your confessional to show that you are a Citizen.
All discussions you have with me must be held in the strictest confidence unless otherwise noted. In the real mafia game you can't prove your Alignment this way and it must be the same here.
Anyone who goes outside the game to show this proof will be immediately removed from the game. This includes hinting, suggesting, or copying sections of text I post in your confessionals in order to "confirm" that another player has a specific role. For example, if two people both receive an identical post from me that reveals secret, private information you cannot copy the whole or part of the text in order to prove that you received the post too. Remember that it is simple to fake conversations and screenshots.
B) You are not allowed to reveal your alias, personal information, or ways of contacting you that aren't through accounts I provide. Everything must be kept within the game so outside influences don't appear. You are not allowed to contact each other through off-site message boards or through private AIM/e-mail regarding game matters. You are not allowed to reveal your real name or deliberately identify yourself.
IMMEDIATELY after you are realize you are eliminated, you must not attempt to share game-related information with anyone still in the game. You may take a minute to say your goodbyes and wish others luck, but you MAY NOT reveal any game-related information. For the entire time you are in the game before it is announced you are eliminated, you are encouraged to spread as much information and theories as you wish. However, once you are eliminated, you are no longer a part of the game and your theories must go with you.
Afterwards, please sign off your AIM name and write your Final Words in your confessional, saying the last things you want to say and maybe summing up your game. Aliases will be revealed as soon as the game ends and you can talk after it's over. Do not try and influence the game in any way after you are eliminated, no matter how badly you want to tell Person Z about your Spy suspicions or Person Q about your secret role.
Nasty stuff, rules, but they are very important to have. This is just to painstakingly spell out all the rules that I follow strictly so if issues come up during the game I can just point here and not have to say anything.
SPIES RULES:
1. Votes to Exile a Spy are due before the Exile deadline. You must vote by creating a new topic in your confessional before this deadline. You may vote any time after someone has been Imprisoned.
2. If you do not vote, it will be counted as self-votes against yourself. (see "penalties for inactivity" for more information) If you fail to vote a second time, you may be removed from the game by me for non-participation. If you fail to a vote a third time, it's an automatic elimination.
3. If you do not communicate with your fellow players, participate in mandatory host created activities, or post absolutely nothing in your confessional for a very long time, I have the right to remove you. You will receive a warning first. If you spend all of your time in the game whining, being negative towards me, insulting or abusing me, or being a big jackass, I have the right to remove you. I don't want to do this at all (and rarely, rarely ever do) so keep up with things.
4. I think this goes without saying: but please do not threaten the host. Keep in mind I do all this work for your enjoyment and I have NO favorites and NO bias. Repeat: I have no bias. My integrity as a host that I have built up over the past 9 years is essential to me. If you don't believe me ask some people that I have hosted fairly over the years. I've hosted 14 unbiased and fair games so I don't think this should be an issue. I will be as clear and fair as I can about all rules, deadlines, and decisions. If you have questions about anything, ask!
5. You need to post substantial game-related conversations with other players in your confessional. The newest AIM has an automatic logging feature that may help you. I understand it can be frustrating and time consuming sometimes but please try and post important ones when you can. I do read the conversations you post and so do people after the game is over.
6. No matter how upset you are that you are about to be eliminated, no quitting!
7. You may change your vote as many times as you like up until the deadline. DO NOT DELETE/ERASE/MODIFY the vote you are changing! Simply post a reply to your voting thread indicating that you wish to change your vote. Provide a new vote with a new reason, as all votes must have reasons. You can't vote for yourself.
The reason for this is I often confirm votes in the middle of the live chat (many votes are changed or inputted at the last minute). If you edit or modify your vote, it does not show up as a new post on the front page of the website and I will skip by it. The time right before Exile is very busy since the voting deadline is also when the live chat starts. So please do not ever edit or modify your votes. You can still change whenever you want just make a new post and I will count only the most recent post.
8. Penalty self-votes may be awarded if you break any of the rules. Penalty votes will no longer take effect at the Final Nine Exile and beyond. This may occur earlier at my discretion.
9. You are not allowed to show most private AIM conversations you have to others. Exceptions include "small segments" of private chat that are of a short, reasonable length and anything that takes place in the spies7 AIM chat room, along with some other technicalities. Do not ask or request certain chat transcripts or sections of private AIM chat from others of a specific time or topic, doing so will result in warnings, penalty self-votes, or possible expulsion. By all means, if a Spy posts something stupid in private AIM conversation cut out that small part and spread it around everywhere. Just keep the parts you copy short and rare. More information on this change will be posted.
10. Do not snoop around using obscure or clever board or Internet tricks to break into private areas or discover things beforehand. If you try and guess words on my Photobucket account to find secret images or try and guess people's passwords you will be removed from the game at my discretion.
11. Do not mass copy your private thoughts to others in your confessional for the purposes of proving you are a Citizen. Doing so will result in expulsion.
Please read ALL the rules and be familiar with them!
Thanks.
